Vans-Vault-Holiday-09-Del-Barco-0Blogger Marcus Troy got an exclusive look at a Vans Del Barco Mid LX, which is set to drop Holiday 2009. The midtop boat shoe comes in two rich nubuck, deep brown colorways perfect for the mid fall early winter season.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Highsnobiety produced this small video in anticipation for the big release of the Louis Vuitton x Kanye West collaboration this month that sneaker heads all over the world have been drooling on. Living up to the LV standard of luxury, I have to admit the design of the shoe is pretty cool, especially the high tops. Though I’m pretty sure the average American consumer probably won’t be able to even think of affording this luxury sneaker, it makes me wonder what the standard of ‘cool’ is. Sneaker Freaker recently did a feature that I had the opportunity to write about for M.I.S.S. Omni Media, questioning if Luxury sneakers was equivalent to the how cool it use to be to have a Nike Air Force 1 or a Nike Dunk.

If I could ask a genie in a bottle for anything, anything at all, I would probably ask him for the talent to be as artistically inclined as sneaker customizing extraordinaire Miss Saigon. Born in Vietnam circa 1974 and raised by her adoptive parents in a suburb of Paris, Miss Saigon is a force to be reckoned with on the custom sneaker circuit.

Having made her home in a variety of the worlds greatest cities, Saigon has a resume that most would kill for. Finding her love of the visual arts in London, and from there venturing to L.A. to pursue that love, Miss Saigon found herself enrolled in school studying Fine Arts. From there she made her way to the Big Apple working as a production assistant and model for the Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

Woolrich x Converse

Woolrich x Converse

My favorite sneaker company Converse has hooked up with outdoor clothing company Woolrich to create these one of a kind wool Chuck Taylor’s perfect for the fall/winter season. Rugged in their design the shoe comes in two colorways red/black and blue/black, a high top model as well as a low top, with metal eyelets and that toe cap synonymous with the Converse brand. No word yet on when they will be release, but I’m assuming they’ll be available at the end of the summer or middle of the Fall.

Trend Alert: Oxfords

Hand Made in California

I’ve been a fan of Oxford shoes for awhile now. Known often as a trend for men, the Oxford is slowly but surely making its way through the fashion hierarchy and onto the streets. Throughout the summer, I’m pretty sure the popular mens shoe will be popping up on women. Pair them with a flowing summer dress, cropped cigarette pants, and even cut off shorts, this trend is just another stop on the road for women to completely taking over mens wear.

After a recent visit from California shoe designer George Esquivel, the ladies at Vogue decided to create a ‘What Not to Do’ list concerning the Oxford shoe, and highlight some of their favorite Esquivel Oxfords.

Take a look at the list and a few of my favorite oxfords after the jump.

There is no doubt in my mind that high fashion influences low fashion and vice versa.  In Issue #15 of Sneaker Freaker Magazine, the sneaker enthusiasts take a deep look into the phenomenon that is the high end sneaker in the feature ‘Is High Fashion Really the New SB?’. The article examines the many ways in which high end fashion has influenced the sneaker game and in turn how the sneaker culture and low end fashion has caused luxury labels to go back to the drawing board and create a little something for the streets.

Is Louis Vuitton the New SB?

Is Louis Vuitton the New SB?

Taking an in depth look at a few of the worlds most prestigious luxury brands and their past and present involvement in the sneaker world, are none other than a few of our favorite women. Tee from TrashBag Aesthetics/Trenddoll covering the Kanye West favored Louis Vuitton, Claw Money of Blogue covering Gucci, and our very own Miss Mama reporting on Chanel are not only outstanding voices in the article, but they also happen to be apart of our ‘Women Making History’ series here at M.I.S.S. Crew.

Dee & Ricky

Awhile ago I heard about the Nylon Magazine x Nike Sportswear collaboration and it made me choke on the coffee I was drinking with sheer excitement. Nike is in of my favorite brands and Nylon happens to be one of my favorite magazines so I knew a collaboration with the two of these power houses was sure to be nothing short of perfection.  I started seeing the kicks on super awesome people like Leigh Lezark of the Misshapes during fashion week and I knew I had to figure out a way to get my grubby little paws on them. In the May issue of Nylon (out on stands now) the magazine has a full spread of the kicks on some of the coolest people like Peaches Geldof and Lego master’s Dee & Ricky (above). The shoes drop June 1st in select Nike retailers and Urban Outfitters. In addition to the shoes Nylon has also created a nylon wind runner. Can I get a amen?!
