I found Stephen Morris’ photography with the help of a really good friend of mine, who has a spectacular eye for noticing good quality artwork. His Flickr account is a melting pot of visually stimulating photos, some of my favorite being the ones in this post. ‘The September Issue’ is the highly anticipated documentary movie that takes a look behind the scene of Vogue magazine and its infamous Editor in Chief Anna Wintour. The documentary chronicles the events leading up the September 2007 issue of Vogue, September being the beginning of the fashion year. Accurately and interestingly depicted in the trailer below, not only does The September Issue gives Vogue readers and fashionistas alike the unique opportunity to see the inner workings of the popular publication, but more importantly it gives them the chance to watch the magnificence that is Anna Wintour beyond  perceptions of her behavior depicted in movies such as The Devil Wears Prada.

Directed by R.J. Cutler and recipient of the Excellence in Cinematography Award for a US Documentary ate the Sundance Film Festival in January 2008, the film takes us behind the scene of fashion weeks, on photo shoots, and in the most sacred of closed door meetings at Vogue.  Being slated as the real The Devil Wears Prada, the movie shows us exacty why Anna Wintour is “like Madonna” as designer Thakoon Panichgul says in the trailer with obvious reverence.

With appearances by Anna’s colleagues Andre Leon Talley, and super stylist Grace Coddington The September Issue is loaded with designers, models, and clothes that would put a tear in any fashionistas eyes.  R.J. Cutler hit the nail on the head with this one ladies, he offers us a privileged peek into a world many dream of but rarely ever see. I for one, can’t wait!

Though I’m pretty sure the average American consumer probably won’t be able to even think of affording this luxury sneaker, it makes me wonder what the standard of ‘cool’ is. Sneaker Freaker recently did a feature that I had the opportunity to write about for M.I.S.S. Omni Media, questioning if Luxury sneakers was equivalent to the how cool it use to be to have a Nike Air Force 1 or a Nike Dunk.

Stardust by Steven Meisel

Stardust by Steven Meisel

In my opinion old Hollywood glamour was real glamour. These days the more provocative your attire is, the more attention it garners to your craft, good or bad. Old Hollywood was about being sexy, seductive, and pushing the limits while still being a lady. Women like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Betty Davis embodied and personified this style. This editorial from Vogue Italia, shot by Steven Meisel in 2008, is a great depiction of classic Hollywood that is still the standard of beauty today.

vintage-coke-can-designHow cool are these vintage Coke cans? My grandmother use to work for Coca Cola and when she died she gave my brother an original Coke bottle, back when  Coca Cola was all glass. It’s a beautiful artifact and shows the true workmanship that went into creating that iconic piece of advertising.

This collection of cans take me back to the 1950’s, and reminds me of Roy Lichtenstein artwork. Very pop art-esq…
